Friends of SFHA

Ambassadors · Advocates · Volunteers

The Friends of SFHA are a dedicated network of community supporters, sponsors, and volunteers who help advance and sustain the mission of Sandhills Family Heritage Association. SFHA members, who pay a small annual membership fee, are also part of this vibrant group.

What Friends of SFHA Do:

  • Serve as ambassadors and advocates for SFHA at events, within partner organizations, and throughout the broader community.

  • Volunteer their time and talents at key SFHA events such as HealthWise screenings, the Farmers & Heritage Market, Deerfield Cemetery Cleanup, Sankofa Youth activities, and Heritage Tours.

  • Use their unique skills to lead workshops and community outreach projects that promote wellness, heritage, and education.

  • Organize fundraising efforts, like quilt raffles and other creative initiatives, to support their work and help fund SFHA programs.

  • Coordinate the annual year-end SFHA Celebration & Recognition Event, honoring community service, accomplishments, and partnerships.

  • Make a lasting impact in the Sandhills by improving the lives of families and strengthening community ties.

Friends in Action

Some Friends of SFHA go beyond volunteering time—they donate professional services, materials, and hospitality that directly support our mission and programs. Whether it's delivering and spreading truckloads of dirt or gravel, making repairs to our facilities, grinding stumps in the cemetery, or helping with beautification efforts, these generous acts make a lasting impact.

Others keep our volunteers and guests energized by donating food and drinks, especially much-needed coffee, during events and farmers market days. These in-kind gifts reduce expenses and create a welcoming atmosphere for all.

Their hands-on support and quiet generosity exemplify the spirit of community. We are deeply grateful to these Friends in Action who help preserve history, nurture community, and move SFHA forward.
