Outreach and Education Programs
Sandhills Family Heritage Association’s Outreach and Education programs are designed to engage our communities in meaningful ways—working together to spark change, address local challenges, and build on the strengths we already have.
These initiatives bring together volunteers, professionals, and partner organizations to support stronger, healthier families, empower our youth, and celebrate a culture rooted in collaboration, self-reliance, and shared learning. At the heart of it all is a neighbor-to-neighbor approach that keeps community connection front and center.
HealthWise: Wellness Rooted in Community
At SFHA, we believe that health is more than just healthcare, it’s about access, education, prevention, and the strength of neighbors supporting one another. Our HealthWise program, coordinated by Doris Lucas, brings vital health and wellness services directly to the community through trusted partnerships and volunteer support.
HealthWise offers free health screenings, hosts educational workshops on chronic disease prevention, sponsors blood drives, and leads exercise classes to encourage active lifestyles. Whether it’s a blood pressure check, a wellness session, or simply a conversation about health, HealthWise meets people where they are to help build healthier lives and stronger communities.
