Programs of  H. O. P. E

At Sandhills Family Heritage Association, our programs are rooted in the belief that strong communities are built through connection, knowledge, and stewardship. Through our H.O.P.E. framework—Heritage and History, Outreach and Education, Preservation of Land, and Economic Self-Sufficiency—we honor our ancestors, serve our neighbors, and empower future generations.

Heritage and History

We preserve and uplift the cultural legacy of African-American families in the Sandhills through oral history projects, tours, archives, and intergenerational storytelling. [Explore Heritage and History >>]

Outreach and Education

From youth engagement to health education and civic involvement, our outreach programs bring vital resources and opportunities directly into the community. [Learn More About Outreach and Education >>]

Preservation of Land and Natural Resources

We work to preserve ancestral land and sacred spaces, from cemeteries to farmland, while helping families protect what they’ve inherited. [Discover our Land Preservation Work >>]

Economic Self-Sufficiency

We believe strong communities grow from the ground up. Through local markets, skills-sharing, small business support, and hands-on learning, we help families—and especially young entrepreneurs—earn, grow, and build toward a better future right here at home.  [See How We Support Economic Growth »]
